Since this is God’s method, it is possible that He may break up our nest. Sometimes He not only breaks up our nest, but He pushes us off the cliff. Now I don't know about you, but I do not like being pushed off a cliff.
However, God does this to His own. And generally He pushes them into a heap of trouble, problems, and difficulties.
Remember that the Lord Jesus sent His disciples across the Sea of Galilee one evening definitely, directly, and deliberately into a storm. He did it purposely.
Some folk do not like to hear this.
But God knew that the storm was coming.
And He sent them right into it.
Dear reader, God sent His own disciples, deliberately, into a dark storm.
God leads some of His own through the fire, and some through the flood - that is the way God leads His dear children along. That is His method.
But always remember that He will not let us fall.
There have been many times in my life when I have been pushed to the edge of the cliff and I was sure I would fall but I have not fallen and I do so Praise God for His absolute sheer Goodness to me.
We can be Confident!
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6).
You may think you are falling, dear reader, but
His wings will be there at the right moment.
"Underneath are the everlasting arms" (Deuteronomy 33:27).
I know that fact by experience O how I know it.
Earthly friends may prove untrue,
Doubts and fears assail;
One still loves and cares for you,
One who will not fail.
Jesus never fails, Jesus never fails,
Heaven and earth may pass away,
BUT JESUS NEVER FAILS.
Tho the sky be dark and drear,
Fierce and strong the gale,
Just remember He is near,
And He will not fail.
Jesus never fails, Jesus never fails,
Heaven and earth may pass away,
BUT JESUS NEVER FAILS.
In life's dark and bitter hour
Love will still prevail;
Trust His everlasting power -
JESUS WILL NOT FAIL.
JESUS NEVER FAILS, JESUS NEVER FAILS,
HEAVEN AND EARTH MAY PASS AWAY,
BUT JESUS NEVER FAILS.

God in His Great ever present mercy will hold you dear reader and He will hold me on His wings, He will not let us fall. If, when you are reading this page, and you are at your wit’s end and do not know where to turn or what to do, let me give you this verse:
"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31).
There are three degrees of power here, and several expositors have likened them to the three stages of Christian growth that we have in
1 John 2:12–14 "I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake. I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known Him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known Him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the Word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one."
These three stages of growth are:
(1) the young Christian shall mount up as an eagle;
(2) the adult Christian shall run; and
(3) the mature Christian shall walk.
This reminds me of the story I once heard of a pastor who preached a very wonderful sermon, in which he said,
"Brethren, this church, it needs to walk."
And one of the deacons said, "Amen."
He continued, "Brethren, this church needs to run." And the deacon said, "Hallelujah."
Then he said, "Brethren, this church needs to fly." And this deacon said, "Amen and Hallelujah."
Then the minister said,
"Well, it’s going to cost money to make this church fly."
To this the deacon replied,
"Let her walk, brother, let her walk."
Dear reader, regardless of who we are, if we are going to move with God through this earth, it will cost us something.
But God will furnish us with His strength whatever our condition.
If we need strength to walk, He will give it to us.
If we need strength to fly, He has that for us also.
This is such a wonderful comfort is it not. Our Creator, who is our our Savior, is our Sustainer.
In the eighteenth century Kathleen Shea Vick wrote this marvelous hymn.
Rise,
my soul, and stretch thy wings, thy better portion trace;
Rise from
transitory things, towards heaven, thy destined place:
Sun and moon and stars decay, time shall soon this earth remove;
Rise, my soul, and
haste away to seats prepared above.
Rivers to the
ocean run, nor stay in all their course;
Fire ascending seeks the sun; both speed them to their source:
So my soul, derived from God, longs to view His glorious face,
Forward tends to His
abode, to rest in His embrace.
Fly me riches, fly
me cares, whilst I that coast explore;
Flattering world, with all thy snares, solicit me no more.
Pilgrims fix not here their home; strangers tarry but a night;
When the last dear morn is come, they’ll rise to joyful light.
Cease, ye
pilgrims, cease to mourn, press onward to the prize;
Soon thy Savior will return, to take thee to the skies:
There is everlasting peace, rest, enduring rest, in heaven;
There will sorrow ever cease, and crowns of joy be given.

"Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you unto Myself."
Adam and Eve were put into the Garden of Eden - what a nest that was!
Then they sinned, and God broke up their nest - but it was for their own good - and God drove them out of the Garden.
If we follow the record of how God dealt with His own in the Bible we soon find that this has been His method. Abraham was living in Ur of the Chaldees, which boasted a great civilization in his day.
They had all sorts of comforts, and Abraham was a prosperous businessman. He was doing well, but one day God called him, broke up his nest, and moved him out.
It was hard going from then on, but I can assure you that Abraham would never have exchanged that experience for a life of comfort in Ur of the Chaldees.
Moses, by what the world would call a trick of fate, got into the palace of Pharaoh and would have been the next Pharaoh on the throne. I have a notion that he could have given a very convincing argument for staying in that advantageous position.
Certainly he could have said,
"I can be of more help to my people here than if I attempted to step out."
But Moses did not argue that way.
He wanted to deliver his people.
One day God broke up his nest and drove him out of that palace to the back side of the desert at Midian.
That was God’s method.
Then there was David, beloved David, O how I love him and Praise God for him, he was just a shepherd boy out in the meadows with his sheep. He described how peaceful it was by the cool, limpid water and the green pastures.
It was so comfortable there.
One day God broke up his nest, the anointing oil was poured upon him, and he became Israel’s king, the like of which was never seen from that day on but David had to spend much, fearing for his life and hiding in the caves of the earth.
David had to go underground for many years.
David was schooled by God.
God put sandpaper on him.
God disciplined him.
Because he was God’s man his nest had to be broken up.
James and John were prosperous fishermen living in Capernaum on the Sea of Galilee.
They were doing well until one fine day there came by a Man who called them. And they immediately left the ship and their father and followed Him.
Their nest was broken up.
They left their fishing business to become two of the twelve disciples of our Precious Saviour Lord Jesus Christ.
One of them died a martyr’s death,
and the other spent time on an island Patmos, in lonely exile.
Way back there at Capernaum God had broken up their nest.
God accomplishes His purpose in our lives.
He breaks up our nests.
How comfortable we get in grace and then God has to come along and break up our nest.
That has been and is His method.
Dear reader, if we have been saved by grace, we have been called to a much higher plane of living than the Law ever called any man to experience. We are called to live above the valleys of this world, in fact, above the mountain peaks of the world. You see, the Law never raised man very high.
Remember that when planes first started flying in a commercial way, they never flew above six thousand feet in the air. Now and then they would bump into a mountain. But now with pressurized cabins, they are no longer limited to six thousand feet - they now go up to forty thousand feet. And when we say that a plane does not fly at six thousand feet, we do not mean that it is on the ground, we mean it is higher.
When we say that a born-again believer in Christ Jesus is not to be under Law, what we mean is that they are on a much higher plane.
They are to leave the six thousand foot level and go up to where it is forty thousand feet because they are being borne on eagles’ wings.
God has His own way of training those whom He has saved by grace.
He wants to teach us to use our wings.
God does not want us to live on the low plane.
God wants us above the mountain peaks of this world of human effort.
He does not want us caged down here by some religious zoo of this world to be on display for spectators.
Those whom our Lord calls are not born-again by the way we live our lives. They are saved by faith and that faith comes to us by our hearing of the Word of God and receiving it, believing what it says that Christ died for our sins and that He rose for our justification.
We are to live for Him on a high plane.
That is the very thing apostle Paul said to Titus.
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men" (Titus 2:11).
The eagle wings of God’s grace have taken those who have trusted Christ and lifted them out of sin. But that does not end it. The very same grace of God is
"Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present age" (Titus 2:12).
And Paul also wrote this, not in the language of Sinai, but in the language of love, the language of the mother eagle urging her young to come up higher:
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service" (Romans 12:1).
And again apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians,
"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love" (Ephesians 4:1-2).
Dear reader if you have been called by God it is a very high calling.
It demands walking in lowliness and meekness.
Restore
them in meekness, ye saints of the LORD.
For by grace
shall the one who has sinned be restored.
All ye, in the Spirit of God, intercede,
at the throne of God's mercy
for another in need.
If any man, brethren, has taken a fall,
carry that soul to Jesus: to prayer thou art called.
The burden is lifted to
heav'n as you pray
and is laid upon Jesus, Who has power to save.
Consider thyself in restoring a soul.
For the evil you seek to destroy can take hold
of even the bravest and strongest and bold.
Laying wait for you, Christian, is that Serpent of old.
Though Satan should buffet, our God has ordained
that the strongholds be crushed as we pray in His Name.
We war with the weapons of faith, hope and love;
and the prayer of the righteous, God will hear from above.
Take courage! Remember, the battle is won.
He is Faithful to finish what He has begun.
The bruis-ed reed,
standing, the flax set aflame,
shall bring honor and glory to His Most Holy Name.

Dearest Abba Father God, we want to Thank You and to lift our hearts and souls and voices in sheer Praise and Adoration for Your beloved Kathleen Shea Vick, who wrote this hymn, whom You chose and called, to be such a huge blessing to Your chosen people. Hallelujah! Abba Father we Bless Lord Jesus Christ for Your Provision for us. We Bless His Holy Dearest, Sweetest, Most Precious Name in all the universe, Forever and ever Amen! and
Amen!
God always disciplines His own in this world.
"As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings, so the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him" (Deuteronomy 32:11-12).
The eagle is known for its ferocity and cruelty. An eagle, as it is flying aloft, may see a lamb or some other animal down below, plunge out of the sky, leap upon the animal, and destroy it.
In sharp contrast is its tenderness toward its own young. The eagle builds its nest on a high mountain crag. After the eggs are laid and the little ones hatch out, both the male and female watch over the nest and bring food to the eaglets. Then comes the day when those little eaglets are big enough to fly. But they do not want to fly, they are having it too easy up in the nest. They are given their breakfast in bed every morning.!
Why should they want to leave?
The mother eagle knows that it is time for them to start flying. Then there on the dizzy heights of a mountain crag, she leads them out. She attempts to teach them by flying out herself and coming back, but they are reluctant to follow for they are afraid.
They don’t want her to know they are ready to fly, so they do not move.
Then she breaks up the nest and takes a little one to the edge of the cliff. It is a long way down, but she pushes the little one right over the edge! She does not push the little one over the edge to destroy her, no, She watches that little one very diligently as she starts down and clumsily flaps her wings. If she doesn’t take off as she should, mother eagle swoops underneath her, and her mighty wings hold up that little eaglet. That little eaglet will never be dashed on the crags beneath. Mother eagle catches her and brings her back to the starting point and tries again until eventually the little eaglet begins to fly on her own just as she has taught her to. Each time she mother eagle flies a little farther, and the little eaglet becomes more and more confident, and filled with sheer Joy, she follows her.
That is the eagle. And God made the eagle that way in order that He might give us this very wonderful verse of Scripture.
Now read it very carefully:
"As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings, so the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him."
This is the way God watches over those who are His own. God pushes us out of the nest sometimes, out of our comfort zone, not because He does not love us but because He wants us to learn to fly even higher and even father, and He wants us to trust Him to lead us to where He wants us to serve Him. Oh this is surely a most wonderful description of the absolute goodness of our Great Loving God.
Rise,
my soul! behold 'tis Jesus,
Jesus fills Thy wond'ring eyes;
See Him now in glory seated,
Where thy sins no more can rise.
There, in righteousness
transcendent,
Lo! He doth in heav'n appear,
Shows the blood of His atonement
As thy title to be there.
All thy sins were laid upon Him,
Jesus bore them on the tree;
God, who knew them, laid them on Him,
And, believing, thou art free.
God now brings thee to
His dwelling,
Spreads for thee His feast divine,
Bids thee welcome, ever telling
What a portion there is thine.
In that circle of God's favor,
Circle of the Father's love,
All is rest, and rest forever,
All is perfectness above.
Blessed, glorious Word
"forever!"
Yea, "forever!" is the Word;
Nothing can the ransomed sever,
Naught divide them from the Lord.
Hallelujah!
Bless Lord Jesus forever and ever!
Amen!
