.

John 12:37-38   "But though  He had done so many miracles  before them,  yet  they believed not  on Him.  That  the saying of Isaiah  the prophet  might be fulfilled,  which he spake,   Lord,  who hath believed our report?   and  to whom  hath the arm of the Lord  been revealed."  

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST IS THE GREATEST INTERCESSOR OF ALL TIME    (we can only  see glimpses of Him as we read and study His  Word.  He  is on every page  of  Scripture)

THE PROPHET ISAIAH,   WHO WAS BORN IN BETHLEHEM,  700 YEARS BEFORE THE LORD JESUS,  LETS US SEE  SOMETHING  OF  THE SUFFERING  OF  THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

HE  REVEALS  TO  US  THE HUMANITY OF  CHRIST  IN  A  WONDERFUL WAY.

HE  TOOK UPON  HIMSELF  OUR  HUMANITY.

HE  CAME  TO REDEEM  LOST MANKIND.

THE REPORT THAT ISAIAH PRESENTS IS STILL NOT POPULAR TODAY.  

WHEN  GOD  WAS READY TO REDEEM  SINNERS,   THE   WORK  REQUIRED  HIS   BARED ARM.

GOD  HAS BARED HIS ARM   -  by rolling up His sleeves  -   IS SYMBOLIC  OF  A  TREMENDOUS EXERCISE..

GOD ATTACHES MUCH MORE IMPORTANCE TO  THE REDEMPTION OF SINNERS  THAN  HE  DOES  TO ALL  THE REST OF CREATION.

THE  LORD JESUS  WAS  LIKE A ROOT OUT OF A DRY GROUND.

ISAIAH  TELLS US THAT   A  LIVING BRANCH  WOULD  COME  OUT  OF  JESSE.

THE NATION TO WHICH HE CAME WAS AT THAT TIME  SPIRITUALLY  DEAD.

THE RELIGIOUS RULERS  HAD REDUCED THE OLD TESTAMENT  TO A DEAD RITUAL  AND  THEY WERE FAR  FROM GOD.

THEY FOLLOWED THE LETTER OF THE MOSAIC LAW  BUT  THEY HAD MORE WAYS OF GETTING AROUND IT  THAN MODERN MAN  HAS  IN GETTING AROUND  CIVIL LAW.

ISRAEL  WAS NOT ONLY A  DEAD  NATION SPIRITUALLY,  IT WAS ALSO  UNDER THE IRON HEEL  OF  ROME.

THE PEOPLE OF  ISRAEL WERE NOT FREE.

THE MORAL FOUNDATION WAS GONE.

THE REASON  THAT  THE APOSTLES'  MESSAGE  OF GRACE  FELL ON SO MANY RECEPTIVE EARS  WAS  BECAUSE THE PEOPLE WERE  TIRED  OF THE LAW.

THE PEOPLE  HAD BEEN TAUGHT  TO  FOLLOW  DETAILED  PROGRAMS  IN  ORDER  TO BE SAVED  RATHER  THAN HAVING  A  PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP  WITH  GOD.

INTO SUCH A SITUATION  CHRIST JESUS  CAME.

HE  WAS BORN INTO A NOBLE FAMILY.

THE LOVELIEST FLOWER OF HUMANITY  CAME  FROM THE  DRIEST SPOT  AND   PERIOD OF THE WORLD'S  HISTORY.  

THE LORD JESUS CAME FORTH FROM GOD.

HE  IS  A  ROOT  OUT OF A DRY  GROUND.  THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE WORLD TO PRODUCE  HIM.

CHRIST'S  COMING INTO THE WORLD  WAS  AMAZING.

HE  WENT THROUGH THIS WORLD  BEING REJECTED   (read  Psalm  69 - the silent years).

Isaiah 53:4-5    "Surely   He  hath borne our grief's,  and  carried our sorrows:  yet  we did esteem Him stricken,  smitten of  God,  and  afflicted.  But  He  was  wounded  for our transgressions,  He  was bruised for our iniquities:  the chastisement of our peace  was upon  Him;  and  with  His stripes  we are  healed."   

THIS  DOES NOT  REFER  TO PHYSICAL HEALING.   IF  YOU WANT TO INCLUDE  HEALING  IN THE ATONEMENT  THEN REMEMBER  THERE IS  A NEW BODY  IN THE ATONEMENT  AND  WE  KNOW THAT THERE IS A NEW EARTH IN THE ATONEMENT BUT WE DO NOT HAVE THESE BLESSINGS YET.

WHEN THE  LORD JESUS WALKED ON THIS EARTH  HE  WAS MOVED BY THE SUFFERING OF THE PEOPLE.

HIS  HEART WENT OUT  TO  THEM.

DISEASE IS NOT SIN,  RATHER,  IT IS THE RESULT  OF THE ENTRANCE OF SIN  WAY BACK  IN  THE GARDEN OF EDEN.

THE  LORD JESUS,  MOVED WITH COMPASSION,  WHEN  HE  WAS ON THIS EARTH  HEALED MULTITUDES OF PEOPLE.

ENDING SUFFERING   WAS PART OF HIS MINISTRY  WHEN  HE WALKED UPON THIS EARTH.

THE BIBLE DOES NOT SAY THAT IN HIS DEATH HE HEALS DISEASE.

THE OTHER PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE  THAT  SHOULD ALWAYS BE READ  WITH THIS PORTION IN ISAIAH   IS

1 Peter 2:24   "Who His own self  bore our sins  in His own body  on the tree,  that we,  being dead to sins,  should  live unto righteousness;  BY WHOSE STRIPES  YE WERE  HEALED."

WHEN THE LORD JESUS  DIED UPON THE TREE OF CALVARY  HE  DIED  FOR  SIN.

Isaiah 53:5   "But  He  was wounded for our transgressions,  He  was bruised  for our iniquities:  the chastisement of our peace  was upon  Him;  and  with  His  stripes  we are healed."

The  Lord Jesus Christ  stepped in front of the  arrow of God's judgment  that was intended  for  you  and  for  me.  When we accept   Him  as our personal Saviour  we are passed from death  unto  life.

Psalm 91:5   "You  shall not be afraid  of the terror  by night,  nor  of the arrow  that  flies by day."

THE ARROW THAT IS FLYING BY DAY  IS  THE ARROW  THAT IS AIMED  AT MY SIN.

IT HAS ALREADY FOUND ITS MARK IN CHRIST.

I  NEED  NOT BE AFRAID OF THE  ARROW   THAT FLIES  BY DAY.

RIGHT NOW  YOUR SIN  IS  EITHER ON YOU  OR  IT  IS  ON   CHRIST JESUS.

IF  YOU RECEIVE  CHRIST JESUS  BY  FAITH  THEN  HE   BARES YOUR SIN FOR YOU.  HE  BECOMES YOUR SAVIOUR

Isaiah 53:6   "All  we like sheep  have gone astray;  we  have turned every one  to his own  way,  and  the Lord  hath laid on Him  the iniquity  of us all." 

THIS VERSE  OPENS  WITH  ALL  AND  IT  CLOSES  WITH  ALL.

WE  ALL  WENT ASTRAY.

AND  THE LORD JESUS   DIED  FOR THE SINS OF ALL  PEOPLE.

BUT,  ALL PEOPLE  -  since Adam  -   WANT TO GO THEIR OWN  WAY

THE BIBLE WARNS US THAT

Proverbs 14:12   "There is a way  which  seemeth right  unto a man,   but  the end thereof  are  the ways of death."

THE LORD JESUS SAID IN

John 14:6   "I   AM THE WAY,  THE TRUTH,  AND  THE LIFE;   NO MAN  COMETH UNTO THE FATHER  BUT  BY  ME."  

WHEN  THE  HUMAN FAMILY  TURNED AWAY  FROM  GOD,   IT WAS THEN  THAT  CHRIST  BECAME  THE SACRIFICE FOR THE SINS  OF  THE  WORLD.

THE LORD HATH LAID ON HIM THE INIQUITY OF US ALL.

THE CROSS  BECAME AN ALTAR  ON WHICH  THE LAMB OF GOD WHO TAKES AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD  WAS OFFERED.

GOD THE FATHER BRUISED HIS ONLY DEAR SON.

Isaiah 53:10   "Yet  it pleased the Lord  to bruise Him:   He  hath put Him to grief:   when  Thou  shalt make  His soul  an offering   for sin,   He shall see  His seed,  He  shall prolong  His days,  and  the pleasure  of the Lord  shall prosper  in  His hand.  He  shall see the travail of  His  soul,  and  shall  be  satisfied:  by  His knowledge  shall  My righteous servant  justify many;  for  He shall bare their iniquities."     

CHRIST JESUS WAS TREATED AS SIN.

2 Corinthians 5:21   "For  He  hath made Him  to be sin  for us ,  who  knew no sin;  THAT  WE  MIGHT BE MADE  THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD  IN  HIM."   

GOD BECAUSE  HE  LOVES  YOU AND ME  MADE  HIS SON 'S SOUL  A  SIN OFFERING FOR OUR  SIN.

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW  IF  GOD  HATES SIN   THEN LOOK AT THE CROSS.

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW  IF  GOD  WILL PUNISH SIN   THEN   LOOK  AT THE  LORD JESUS  ENDURING THE TORTURES OF ITS PENALTY.   

IF  GOD  DID NOT SPARE  HIS OWN SON  THEN  WHAT CAN WE EXPECT AT THE HANDS OF GOD WHEN WE STAND BEFORE HIM SOMEDAY?  THE QUESTION IS

Hebrews 2:3  "How  shall we escape,   if   we neglect so  great salvation;  which  at the first began  to be spoken by the Lord;  and  was continued unto us  by them  that heard  Him."

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST  DIED  BECAUSE  ALL  WE LIKE SHEEP  HAVE  GONE ASTRAY.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FEEL SORRY FOR THE LORD JESUS   -  He does not want our sympathy  -   HE  GAVE  HIS  LIFE WILLINGLY.   

John 10:18   "No man  taketh it  from me,  but   I   lay it down  of  myself,   I   have  power  to lay it  down,  and  I  have power  to take it again,  This commandment  have  I  received  of my Father."

THE LORD JESUS WAS IN FULL CONTROL AT IS TRIAL.

HE SET THE TIME OF HIS OWN DEATH.

HE WAS CRUCIFIED ON THE FEAST DAY     (the Jews  did not  want  Him to be crucified  on the feast day).

ACTUALLY, THE ROMAN GOVERNMENT,   THE NATION ISRAEL,  AND YOU AND  I  WERE ON TRIAL.

THE LORD JESUS   DIED  WILLINGLY  FOR THE SINS OF THE WORLD.

Hebrews 12:2   "Looking unto Jesus  the author and finisher  of our faith  who  for the joy that was  set before Him  endured the cross,   despising the shame,  and  is set down  at the right hand of the throne of God."

NO MAN  COULD  TAKE  HIS  LIFE FROM HIM.   

HE  CLAIMED  POWER  TO LAY IT DOWN AND TO TAKE IT UP AGAIN.

THE LORD JESUS  SAT DOWN  BECAUSE  HE  HAD  FINISHED  THE WORK  OF  OUR  SALVATION.

HE FINISHED  EVERYTHING  THAT  WAS NECESSARY  FOR YOUR SALVATION  AND  MINE.

Revelation 5:6   "And  I  beheld,  and,  lo,  in the midst of the throne  and  of the four beasts,  and  in the midst of the elders,   STOOD A LAMB  AS  IF  IT HAD BEEN SLAIN,   having seven horns  and  seven eyes,  which are  the seven Spirits of God  sent forth  into all the earth."

THE APOSTLE JOHN   IS A SPECTATOR IN HEAVEN.

CHRIST WAS SLAIN WITH VIOLENCE.  (Christ was led as a lamb to the slaughter).

STOOD,   HERE SPEAKS OF  HIS RESURRECTION.   HE  IS NO LONGER SEATED,   HE   IS STANDING.  

HE  IS MOVING TO POWER,  HE  IS COMING TO THIS EARTH.  

THE JUDGMENT  OF THE TRIBULATION  IS  ABOUT TO STRIKE  THE EARTH.

HE   IS  READY   TO  ACT  AS  THE   RIGHTEOUS JUDGE

SEVEN HORNS  DENOTES COMPLETE  POWER.

SEVEN EYES DENOTES COMPLETE  KNOWLEDGE.

CHRIST IS OMNISCIENT.

HE  IS  THE  OMNIPOTENT AND  THE  OMNISCIENT GOD.

HE  MOVES  IN THE FULLNESS  OF  THE  SPIRIT,     WHO IS  THE   SPIRIT OF WISDOM  AND  UNDERSTANDING.

GOD  TODAY,   THE DAY OF HIS GRACE  IS  SATISFIED  WITH WHAT THE LORD JESUS  DID  FOR US.

THE  LORD JESUS CHRIST TODAY  IS   A  LION  AND  A  LAMB.

THE LION  CHARACTER REFERS TO  HIS  SECOND COMING.  

THE LAMB CHARACTER REFERS TO  HIS  FIRST COMING .

THE  LION  IS SYMBOLIC OF HIS MAJESTY.   THE  LAMB  CHARACTER IS SYMBOLIC OF HIS MEEKNESS.

AS A LION  HE IS SOVEREIGN.  AS A  LAMB  HE IS SAVIOUR.

AS A LION  HE  IS JUDGE.   AS A LAMB  HE  IS JUDGED.

 THE LION  REPRESENTS THE GOVERNMENT OF GOD. THE  LAMB  REPRESENTS THE  GRACE OF GOD.

ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH THE LORD JESUS?

MANY PEOPLE ARE RESTLESS, THEY ARE SO BUSY,    THEY  FAIL  TO  REST  IN   HIM.

ISAIAH 53:11  "HE  SHALL  SEE  THE TRAVAIL OF HIS SOUL  AND  SHALL BE  SATISFIED."

GOD HAS A REMEDY  FOR  EVERY  SIN EXCEPT  THE SIN  OF  REJECTING THE REMEDY.

THE REMEDY  IS  HIS OWN DEAR SON  THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Have you  asked  the Lord Jesus Christ  to  be  your  Saviour?

Why not  ask  Him  to come into your heart right now and  be  your Saviour?

John 17:6   "I  have manifested  Thy name  unto the men  which Thou gavest me  out of the world:  Thine  they were,  And  Thou   gavest them  me:  and  they  have  KEPT  THY  WORD."

THIS  IS  OUR  HIGH PRIEST, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, PLEADING FOR YOU AND FOR ME  BECAUSE WE ARE IN CHRIST THE FATHER SEES NO INIQUITY IN US   JUST  AS GOD WOULD NOT SEE THE INIQUITY OF  JACOB  OR PERVERSENESS  IN ISRAEL   AND WOULD NOT  PERMIT  BALAAM TO CURSE THEM.

GOD WENT DOWN AND  HE DEALT WITH HIS OWN PEOPLE.

HE DID NOT LET THEM GET BY WITH SIN.

BUT GOD  WOULD NOT ALLOW  A  HEATHEN PROPHET  TO  CURSE  ISRAEL.

GOD SAW ISRAEL IN CHRIST.

THAT  IS THE WAY THAT GOD SEES US  TODAY,   HE  SEES US IN   CHRIST JESUS, WE  ARE  ACCEPTED IN THE BELOVED.

Song of Solomon 1:15   "Behold,  thou art fair,  my love:  behold,  thou hast doves' eyes."

THE CONFESSION OF EVERY TRUE CHILD OF GOD IS

Daniel 9:5   "We  have  sinned,  and  have  committed  iniquity,  and  have  done  wickedly,  and  have  rebelled,  even  by departing   from Thy precepts  and  from  Thy judgments."

BUT OUR  LORD JESUS CHRIST   INTERCEDES FOR   US:

"THINE THEY WERE  AND  THOU GAVEST THEM  ME;  AND  THEY HAVE KEPT THY WORD."

 A BELIEVER WHO HAS AN EYE  FOR ANYTHING,  EQUALLY WITH CHRIST,  HAS NO BEAUTY   IN  HIS  SIGHT.

THE LORD JESUS HIMSELF LAID IT ON THE LINE.

 Mathew 10:37  "HE  THAT LOVETH  FATHER  OR  MOTHER  MORE THAN ME IS NOT WORTHY OF ME;  AND  HE  THAT  LOVETH SON  OR  DAUGHTER  MORE THAN  ME IS NOT WORTHY  OF ME."

Do  you  have you eye  fixed  on the Lord Jesus  today?

IF   YOUR EYE IS UPON  HIM   THEN   HIS BEAUTY WILL  BE  REFLECTED IN  YOU.

Matthew 6:22   "The light  of the body  is  the eye:  if  therefore thine eye  be single,  THY WHOLE BODY  SHALL  BE FULL OF LIGHT."
